Gunsnake is a roguelike dungeon-crawler with a twist -- you control your character like in snake. Movement is gimicky and hard to master, yet rewarding to accomplish.
This was my first major project I led. I pitched it to VGDev during my freshman year and over time, gathered a team of 10 devs. We worked hard over the Spring semester to develop the game. We had weekly meetings where we discussed the week's tasks, and feedback was constantly being given between team members.
My favorite part of developing this project was the procedural dungeon generator I created. It was based on the strategy "Enter the Gungeon" uses to create dungeons by placing rooms in a manner similar to a Zelda dungeon. This ensures that there is a good flow on each floor, involving rooms and bonus (chest) areas. Additionally, the music and art on this game were super impressive, I'm extremely proud of my art and music teams!
“Enter a dark, mysterious temple as humanity's finest piece of engineering -- the Gunsnake. Traverse 3 procedurally generated areas and use 18 items in different combinations. Master the unconventional movement and aiming systems as you try and conquer the Temple.”
